Marina
Construction of the new marina docks, and its accompanying landside improvements, has commenced. This is the largest and most complex element in the recreation modification portion of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (CSRP).
Currently all dredging operations and all landside earthwork to accommodate the new parking lots, restroom facilities, and landscaping have been completed. Bellingham Marine, Inc. is on-site fabricating the new marina docks and are on schedule to have the slips open for boaters on May 1, 2019. The South Boat Ramp is also currently on schedule to open by May 1, 2019. Power, water, fuel, and boat sewage removal will be available to marina patrons by mid-May 2019. Landside facilities are on pace to be reopened to the public by Memorial Day Weekend 2019.
Unfortunately, given the steel diameter size of the underlying support platform, and the delivery and fabrication of those steel members, the marina floating facility has been delayed. The construction of the floating facility is scheduled to commence April 15, 2019 and will be completed by mid-August 2019. CRMC is working with CPW and the concessionaire to provide temporary amenities to boaters during the construction of the floating building (ice, safety items, beverages, etc.).
South Platte Bridge / Gravel Ponds / Kingfisher
Construction of the new South Platte Bridge and the surrounding Gravel Ponds and Kingfisher Day-Use Areas is also well underway. All earthwork fills for these areas have been completed and the Contractor is scheduled to set the concrete girders for the new bridge in mid-February 2019. The new South Platte Bridge, Gravel Ponds, and Kingfisher Day-Use Areas are on schedule to open to the public by Memorial Weekend 2019, with miscellaneous bridge work and landscape items to continue through the month of June 2019.
Overall Project Improvements
The Park’s westside amenities stretching from Swim Beach south to Fox Run Day-Use Area are on track to be completed by April 1, 2019. The Swim Beach will officially open for the 2019 summer season on Memorial Weekend 2019.
CRMC is happy to report that all the recreational improvements around the reservoir and all the environmental improvements along Plum Creek and the South Platte River are on schedule to be completed by July 1, 2019. At that time, the entire Park will generally return to normal, uninterrupted operations and public use. CRMC will have small landscape and watering crews out during the summer and fall of 2019, but those operations should not interfere with park activities.
