Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project Reaches Full Pool

The Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) proudly announces that it has achieved its full multi-purpose water storage capacity of 20,600 acre-feet in Chatfield Reservoir. This significant milestone marks the first time the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (Project) has reached its new operational high level of 5,444 feet following the final authorization by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) in May 2020.

Plum Creek Picnic Area and Plum Creek Nature Area Closed – January 24-31

Due to helicopter forestry work occurring in the Plum Creek area, the Plum Creek Picnic Area and the Plum Creek Nature area will be closed from January 24 through January 27.

Lane Closure in effect for Perimeter Road: 5/17/21 – 5/21/21

In order to perform roadway repairs on a portion of Perimeter Road west of Gravel Ponds and Kingfisher Day Use Areas, traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, May 17th, 2021 at 7:00am and lasting until Friday, May 21st, 2021 at 5:00pm.

July 1, 2019 – Construction Activities Update for 4th of July

It finally feels like summer and Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company is pleased to report that Fox Run, Kingfisher, Gravel Ponds, the new South Platte Bridge, and Perimeter Road are on target to reopen to the public by the end of the day on July 3rd, 2019. The Marina will also have more amenities available, including the opening of the fishing pier, parking lots, and the restroom and shower building near the South Boat Ramp. The Perimeter Trail is also on target to be completed from Catfish Flats, over the new South Platte Bridge, and connecting to the Heronry.

Marina Docks and South Boat Ramp to Open June 1, 2019

Beginning at 6:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2019, the new Marina docks, South Boat Ramp, and boat parking lot will be reopened. We strongly recommend all public boaters continue to use the North Boat Ramp until the remaining landside parking lots and amenities are completed.

The cold and wet weather this winter has resulted in delays in completing various construction activities at Chatfield State Park. The heavily saturated soils in the larger dirt work areas along Perimeter Road, Kingfisher, Gravel Ponds, and the Marina have resulted in the construction schedule being significantly impacted.
