Due to conflicts related to the relocation of Xcel Energy’s gas line, the completion of Swim Beach, Catfish Flats, and Fox Run, as well as the recreational trails from Deer Creek to Fox Run, have been delayed.  The abandoned gas line runs through these day use areas and must be removed before construction can be completed.  Removal operations have been approved to proceed and will begin the week of December 3rd.  Please see the below updates for further information on anticipated re-openings.

Swim Beach

The parking lots and access to the shoreline are anticipated to reopen by April 1, 2019.  The new facilities will remain closed until Memorial Day Weekend 2019.

Catfish Flats Day Use Area

Catfish Flats is anticipated to reopen by April 1, 2019.

Fox Run Day Use Area

Fox Run is anticipated to reopen by April 1, 2019.

North Boat Ramp

As of December 1, 2018, the North Boat Ramp is closed for winter.  It will reopen April 1, 2019 or when ice-off occurs.

South Platte Mitigation

CRMC, Chatfield State Park, and the contractor have worked closely to clearly mark closed trails and defined construction areas.  Please click here for a detailed map of the current trails that are open for multi-use.

For your safety, we are depending on the public’s cooperation to stay off closed trails and out of construction areas.  The trail closures are anticipated to remain in place until Summer 2019.

Trails

The reopening of recreational trails along the west side of the park has also been delayed due to Xcel Energy’s gas line relocation and the removal of the abandoned line.  The trail system is anticipated to be completed from Deer Creek to Fox Run by April 1, 2019.

Campgrounds

The Campgrounds will remain open throughout construction activities.  However, please note that day time construction activities will occur near Loop A.

Effective October 1, 2018, the Campgrounds are only be accessible via the Park’s South Entrance off Titan Road and N Roxborough Road.

Plum Creek Trails (within Plum Creek Nature Area)

While the civil work and revegetation efforts are nearly complete, heavy construction activities are occurring adjacent to the area.  Due to safety concerns, CRMC and Chatfield State Park have determined to keep the Plum Creek recreational trails closed until activities in the surrounding areas have subsided. Please stay tuned for an announcement of a reopening date.
