April 24, 2018 – Construction Activities Update
April 24, 2018

Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company, in collaboration with the project’s contractors and Chatfield State Park, have updated the anticipated schedule for the remaining Season 1 areas impacted by construction. The schedule revisions account for some delays and accelerations due to a variety of construction-related factors. Based on extensive analysis of construction productivity, the revised reopening dates are more accurate and should provide visitors with a better idea of what will be accessible while Season 1 construction winds down. All of the project’s participants remain committed to reopening areas as soon as possible, while ensuring construction is conducted safely and efficiently.

North Boat Ramp

The North Boat Ramp is scheduled to reopen on April 1, 2018. The reopening is right on schedule with the original anticipated reopening date.

Massey Draw Day Use Area

Massey Draw is currently on track to reopen by May 1, 2018.

Eagle Cove

Eagle Cove is anticipated to reopen by May 15, 2018.

Balloon Launch / Deer Creek Day Use Area

Originally anticipated to reopen by May 25, 2018, both Balloon Launch and Deer Creek Day Use Area are ahead of schedule and are anticipated to reopen by May 1, 2018

Temporary Detour and West Entrance

Chatfield State Park’s West Entrance off Wadsworth Boulevard has remained open during construction.  A temporary detour has been put in place to allow for construction of the new alignment between the West Entrance and the Perimeter Road.  This detour will allow visitors to still access the Park’s facilities on the north side, including the Dog Off Leash Area, Dam Overlook, and North Boat Ramp.

Completion of the West Entrance realignment is scheduled for May 1, 2018.

Perimeter Road (Swim Beach to Kingfisher Day Use Area)

A high priority for CRMC and Chatfield State Park is to reopen the Perimeter Road for use during the Summer 2018 season.  Construction is currently on track to have the Perimeter Road reopened by May 25, 2018.

Swim Beach

One original goal for CRMC and Chatfield State Park to achieve was to have the Swim Beach reopened by Memorial Weekend 2018.  Unfortunately, due to unforeseen construction-related circumstances, the Swim Beach will not reopen for the 2018 Summer Season.  It is an unfortunate schedule change and our team apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

Jamison Day Use Area

Originally scheduled to reopen May 25, 2018, Jamison’s reopening has been delayed to July 2, 2018.

Catfish Flats Day Use Area

Initially scheduled to reopen by August 15, 2018, Catfish Flats is anticipated to reopen ahead of schedule by July 27, 2018.

Fox Run Day Use Area

Fox Run is tracking on schedule to reopen by July 27, 2018.

Trails

While most trails impacted by Season 1 closures are anticipated to reopen by May 25, 2018, some portions may be closed within specific day use areas, depending on work being performed.  Utility relocations may also temporarily impact trails as work progresses.
