During the development of the Feasibility Report/Environmental Impact Statement(FR/EIS) for the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (CSRP), the Sugar Creek area located approximately 17 miles above Chatfield Reservoir in the South Platte basin, was identified as a site that could be enhanced to provide off-site critical habitat for the Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse.

After a lengthy design and review process, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has given its approval to proceed with construction activities for the Sugar Creek Enhancement Project. The Project will involve the installation of over 8,000 plants and shrubs to improve habitat for the Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse along the Sugar Creek corridor. Construction is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 and will be completed within 4-5 weeks, weather permitting.
