On November 10, 2025, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) will begin a new phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project. Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevation, weather, and other factors, tree removal activities could continue through early spring 2026.

On November 15, 2024, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) began a new phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project. Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevation, weather, and other factors, tree removal activities could continue through early spring 2025.

Due to longer than normal and sustained precipitation, as well as cooler temperatures throughout 2023 and into 2024, Chatfield Reservoir has continued to be full for longer than anticipated. With Chatfield Reservoir and the Reallocation Pool filling and remaining full, we have received a number of questions that we have answered in our latest newsletter.

The Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) proudly announces that it has achieved its full multi-purpose water storage capacity of 20,600 acre-feet in Chatfield Reservoir. This significant milestone marks the first time the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (Project) has reached its new operational high level of 5,444 feet following the final authorization by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) in May 2020.

Due to helicopter forestry work occurring in the Plum Creek area, the Plum Creek Picnic Area and the Plum Creek Nature area will be closed from January 24 through January 27. 

The Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project is thrilled to announce that the Plum Creek environmental mitigation work has been featured as one of 62 projects in the publication, Engineering With Nature: An Atlas Volume 2.

The Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (CSRP) was able to achieve many important milestones in 2020, including receiving final approval to begin storing water in the reallocation pool. For the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) and its member water providers, the partnership with Douglas County to protect portions of its newly acquired open space properties, Sandstone Ranch and Schmidt Property, was vital to receiving the environmental mitigation credits needed to successfully implement the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project (CSRP).

Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) is excited to announce that the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project has received final approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), granting the project participants the right to store water in the new reallocation pool.
