Chatfield Reservoir Water Storage Remains High to Start 2024 Season

On November 15, 2024, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) began a new phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project. Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevation, weather, and other factors, tree removal activities could continue through early spring 2025.

On November 15, 2024, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) began a new phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project. The schedule for the third round of selective tree removal since 2018 is as follows:

  • Mid-October to the end of November: Small crew will work to remove accessible trees from the ground, starting at North Boat Ramp and moving down toward Catfish Flats.
  • December 12 to December 21: Helicopter activities will begin near Fox Run and work south toward Kingfisher. The Fox Run parking lot and Perimeter Trail will be closed through December 21.
  • January to March 1: Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevation, weather, and other factors, helicopter and ground operations could continue in the Kingfisher, Fox Run, and Catfish Flats areas.
  • March 1 to April 1: All material will be hauled off-site, and reseeding efforts will commence in areas impacted by operations.
