September 5, 2017Hauling and stockpiling of riprap (rounded river rock) material for Plum Creek environmental mitigation will not occur within Chatfield State Park. This previously announced plan has changed. Hauling and stockpiling of riprap for Plum Creek environmental mitigation will occur offsite of Chatfield State Park at the ARS Aggregate site located just south of the park. This activity is currently underway. This material will be used to accomplish the environmental mitigation work along Plum Creek, which includes construction of riffle-type drop structures to stabilize the channel and restore the connection of the overbank to groundwater, which will preserve vegetation and control erosion.
