Chatfield Tree Removal Activities: Winter 2025 Update

On November 10, 2025, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) will begin a new phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project. Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevation, weather, and other factors, tree removal activities could continue through early spring 2026.

On November 10, 2025, the Chatfield Reservoir Mitigation Company (CRMC) will begin the next phase of selective tree removal as part of the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project.

The schedule for the fourth round of selective tree removal since 2018 is as follows:

  • Week of November 10 through the end of December: Helicopter activities will begin in the Plum Creek drainage area, followed by areas along the shoreline and the tree stands south of the South Platte Bridge.
  • November through the end of March: A small ground crew will remove accessible trees and stumps at various areas around the reservoir.
  • January to March 1: Depending on ice and ground conditions, reservoir elevations, weather, and other factors, helicopter and ground operations could continue in previously treated areas such as Kingfisher, Fox Run, and Catfish Flats.
  • March 1 to April 1: All downed material will be chipped and hauled off-site, and reseeding efforts will commence in areas impacted by operations.
